Membership registrations for 2020/21 season open!

10/9/2020

Torbay Sailing Club membership registrations for the 2020/21 sailing season are now open.

For the 2020/21 season, a new membership pricing structure will come into effect. Previously, memberships were either Individual or Family. The new structure will be based around how many sailors there are in a family. For a family of one sailor, you will be charged a Single Sailor Family fee. This includes individuals. For a family or two or more sailors, you will be charged a Multi Sailor Family fee.

More information about this change, some family scenario examples, and new membership costs can be found here.

Registrations of interest are available for boat storage. Boat storage is available to youth sailors in Optimist, Starling and Laser. Places are limited and eligibility will be assessed before you make payment. Coaching registrations are also available.

Payment can be made by credit card, internet banking, or EFTPOS on the next club day. It is important to bring a copy of your registration email on your phone to show at the bar if choosing to pay via EFTPOS.

Membership, boat storage, and coaching fees have all changed for this season. Please use the link above to view these.

Renewal of 2019/20 membership

Please log in with your existing username and password issued last season and re-activate your membership. If you have lost your username or password, please use the forgotten username or password link to receive your log in information via email.
Log in and re-activate details
Once you log in, you will need to proceed through checking each member’s details. If someone is registered as a sailor but they don’t sail, please delete them to avoid being charged extra. If a parent now sails, but is still registered as a parent/guardian, please also delete them and re-register them as a sailor. If you are unsure about what this means and how to make changes to your registration, please email membership@torbaysailingclub.org.nz so we can manually renew your membership and make sure the correct details are entered for your family.

New members

Use the link below to begin registration. Please read the new membership pricing structure found here so that the details you enter correctly calculate the fee for you. If you are unsure about how the new pricing structure works, please email membership@torbaysailingclub.org.nz and we can assist you with your registration.
Start new registration
We look forward to seeing everyone back at our season opening day on Sunday, 20th September.

Cancellation of 2020 Ronstan/Mainstay Marine J14 & Sunburst Nationals
March 17th 2020

Dear Competitors, Volunteers & Sponsors,

Unfortunately, due to the rapidly evolving situation with Covid-19 in New Zealand, Torbay Sailing Club has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Ronstan/Mainstay Marine J14 & Sunburst Nationals this coming weekend, 20-22 March 2020.

This decision is not made lightly, however the Club recognises that the focus needs to be on prevention of the virus spread and supporting our communities. The health safety and wellbeing of our sailors and members is paramount.

More information is to follow.

Ticking along and more to come!

1/7/2019

Hey team!

There has been a fair bit going on behind the scenes, even if we haven't all seen each other on the water recently!

Firstly, we are sporting some fantastic new shelves in the office. Thanks to Rod and Heidi for this, and Mark for the final installation. What a difference this will make to hopefully having a tidier office!

Secondly, we are super excited to take possession of the first of two new RIBs from Southern Pacific Inflatables. These new 3.4m RIBs will replace our old Torbay 1 and 4 tiller steers. Thanks to the general committee for the approval of this a couple of months back.

Thirdly, some of you are aware that Lily Zhang was instrumental in helping us fund the club tractor. It has come a point where the tractor is undergoing some maintenance this winter. Thanks to Ken for leading the charge on this one.

Many other things also, but too many to list!

What is coming up?

THIS WEEK:
Tuesday 2nd July - Sailing Committee meeting 7pm
Thursday 4th July - Race Theory Night, topic of Starting 6.30pm
Sat/Sun 6th/7th July - Manly Mid Winter Champs: Hope to see a strong Torbay contingent here. Entries close on Wednesday.

OTHER KEY DATES:
Fri 19th - Sun 21st July - TORBAY CLUB CAMP: costs TBC, but two days of coaching, sleep over in the club, a similar repeat of a cooking challenge, and more.
Saturday 3rd August - FIrst Aid Course: Still some spaces left
Friday 30th August - TORBAY AGM: with another draw card to be announced.......

Fun Night - tonight

27/6/2019

Hey everyone,

A bit late, but as per the calendar, tonight is a fun night planned. There is no set plan on what this entails, and would like the sailors, or attendees to drive this in terms of what is fun for them.

If you have any suggestions, then let us know. Aiming for a 6.30pm start, and it doesn't have to stay at the club. We can venture out :)

REMINDER: Prizegiving tonight 5pm!

16/6/2019

Hey all,

Easy email.

Prizegiving, tonight, 5pm. See you at the
club!

Dinner is pizza (Sunday night so nice and easy). Gluten free, and vegetarian options. $5 per head. Bar open.

See you there :)

Kudos - but only to a couple....

30/5/2019

So members, the Wright family (Glen/Brooke) and the Jensen family were the only ones to read the winter programme......

Tonight was scheduled the first Race Theory night with setup the focus. Luckily for the rest of you, the person who wrote the winter programme, may have also forgotten, and thus has been moved to next Thursday.

Heres the haps for next week:

Tuesday night 7pm - Sailing Committee Meeting
Thursday night 6.30pm - Race Theory Night (open to EVERYONE)
Saturday 8th June - Race training clinic 10.00am - 3pm ish (need to have told G by Tuesday if you intend on coming, again all classes welcome)
Sunday 9th June - Winter series racing (4 short races) 11am 1st Warning signal

Have a great long weekend :)

P.S. If you are sticking around Auckland this weekend, there are a few small jobs requiring a small chunk of time (outside tap change, trailer registration plates, office lock combination lock, trailer wheel bearing checks, small amount of trailer maintenance). If you feel like attempting any of these, all the parts are ready, just need a couple of people to chip in. Contact G.
