Torbay Adult Sailing
Adult sailing at the club is a logical extension of the junior and youth sailing. As the club values and promotes family activity we typically have many families where a junior member is going through the classes and one or maybe more parent takes to the water in a senior class either regularly or as time suits around other activities.
Adult sailing is usually limited to Sunday afternoon racing with only the Adult LTS receiving regular coaching. But the club racing is casual and deliberately light hearted.
The club has adults sailing in both Radial and open sizes virtually every weekend. If you want a club with good facilities, all weather launching etc it is a great location.
The club has a core group of J14s that race in often close racing every weekend. The J14 is unique in that both single handed and double handed race side by side on the same start which means Father and Son type teams are common as it is an ideal way to introduce a sibling to the sport and guide them through racing tactics etc.
The club is enjoying a resurgence of Paper Tiger sailing, mostly due the efforts of club vice patron Mark Orams who is currently the national champion.
