Starling class
The Starling is a dynamic 2.9 metre dinghy suited to sailors between 50 and 70 kilos of all ages. This New Zealand designed boat was first launched in 1970s, and has since grown to be one the largest and most competitive junior classes around – attracting upwards of 140 sailors at it’s national championship. The class is recognised as a good bridge between junior and adult classes as it demands technical skills in order to stay upright, and to go fast! Torbay has enjoyed a growing Starling fleet in recent years which benefits from regular coaching. Starling sailors have formed a friendly tight knit group who love to push each other, both on and off the water.
